Only a Few May Dates Left

The regular Rockfish Season begins May 16th when the limit doubles to 2 fish per angler and they only need to be 19″.  You can still keep any big ones that may be around also.  These resident fish school up and they are easier to target on average.  We have a few prime dates left to book.  Here are a few recent pics of the Trophy Season….

The MD Striped Bass Season is about a month away and charter dates are going quickly.   Now is the time to book your trip and secure your fishing adventure on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.  We still have some prime dates in April and May.  We strongly recommend booking a weekday if at all possible due to crowds.  We run 2 trips a day, 7 days a week and provide all licenses, rods, gear, lures, fish-cleaning etc.  Don’t be fooled by the temperature, Spring is right around the corner.

2019 Spring Trophy Rockfish Season

Spring Trophy Rockfish Season on the Chesapeake Bay is right around the corner.  Trophy Season starts:  Saturday, April 20th and goes to May 15th.  During this period, all striped bass (rockfish) must be 35 inches or longer and each customer is allowed to keep one.  From May 16th to December 15th, the size requirement is 19 inches and each customer is allowed two fish and the  crew can keep one.

We run two trips a day, seven days a week.  Mornings depart at 5:30 a.m. and afternoons at 12:30.  Weekdays are always easier because the crowds are smaller.  We can take a max of 6 customers.  Less folks is fine, but pricing is flat for the boat and we do not mix groups—-one group hires the boat for their private charter.

We currently have Opening Day open, as well as April 23, 24, 25, 28 and 29.  Email for May and June trip availability.

Summer Stripers

Fishing continues to be good to excellent when ridiculously huge crowds aren’t scaring the fish to oblivion.  Weekends are a complete circus with ignorant boaters running through and even trolling through chum-slicks and chunk-lines.  Common sense and common courtesy do not exist out there, so we strongly recommend booking weekdays if at all possible.  Despite the challenges, Last Hurrah Charters has caught over 50 consecutive Rockfish limits and hopes to keep the streak alive.  Some days, the white perch fishing is very good. Other days. they are tough to find.  A few  Bluefish and Mackerel  have been spotted down the Bay, but they haven’t  arrived in numbers yet.  We currently have July 20, 22, 23, and 31 open for charter.  We also have several prime August dates available.  Here are some pics from the last few days….

Phenomenal Light Tackle Fishing

We are enjoying some incredible, light-tackle fishing right now out of Annapolis.  The boat is currently docked in Back Creek.  Rockfish limits are coming fast and furious with a nice grade of  fish.  Enormous (and extremely ignorant) crowds try hard to ruin fishing on weekends, so weekdays are always recommended.
We have some prime July dates open.  Mornings depart at 5:30 and afternoons at noon or 1:00.

2 Fish Season is in Full Swing

The Rockfish limit is now 2 per angler, 19″ and longer.  Fishing is stellar for those dialed in and we are enjoying fast action and full fish boxes.  We are currently booking June and July but also have May 29th – 31st open for charter.  Here are some pics of the past week’s fun:

76 Rockfish Limits in 78 Charter Trips—Now Using Light Tackle!

Live-bait fishing with light tackle is off the chain right now.  We’ve been catching Striped Bass (Rockfish) quick, fast and in a hurry each trip from the second that the anchor is dropped until the limit is in the box.  We’ve now boxed 76 Rockfish limits on our last 78 trips.  Bottom-Fishing is good to excellent lately with all sizes of White Perch and Spot available.

August 21st through 25th is available for charter.  We offer 2 trips a day, seven days a week.   Contact us today to reserve your trip.

Back in Deale & Booking August Live-Lining, Bluefish and Red Drum Trips!

July up north was outstanding with over 30 charters run and Rockfish limits on all of them.  The Last Hurrah has now captured Rockfish limits on 66 out of its last 68 charter trips!  Now, it’s time to catch ’em on light tackle.  The  live bait has arrived and we  are live-lining for our Rockfish.  Plus, there are Bluefish and Red Drum to chase and Spanish Mackerel are on their way with a couple being caught locally.

We are back in our regular marina in Deale and are actively booking August dates.  We want to book and fish every day in August, so contact us A.S.A.P. to book your mixed-bag charter fishing trip on the Chesapeake Bay!

Stellar Summer Fishing on the Chesapeake

Last Hurrah Charters has boxed Rockfish limits on 40 of its last 42 trips!  (The two on which we didn’t were short trips that handicapped us).  The Rockfish (a.k.a. Striped Bass) are larger than average for this time of year and when they bite, the action is fast and furious.   Hooking up 5 to 12 fish at one time is not uncommon.  Bottom-Fishing for White Perch and Norfolk Spot has become very good also.  With water temps on the rise, Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel won’t be far behind.

The Last Hurrah is currently on Back Creek at 7364 Edgewood Road, Annapolis, MD  21403.  She will be spending all of July there and possibly August.  This is putting us much closer to the best fishing.  We still have some July and August dates available for charter.
