Just a Few Weeks Until the Season Starts

The 2019 Maryland Trophy Striped Bass Season kicks off April 20th.  Last Hurrah Charter Fishing LLC still has some prime morning and afternoon dates left to fill, but they are going fast.  We offer a 5:30 a.m. departure and a 12:30 p.m. departure, seven days a week.  We can take up to 6 customers; one group hires the boat for private charter.  Weekdays are always better because of smaller crowds.

Spring Trophy Rockfish Season— Prime Dates

Howdy Fish-Fans,

Don’t be fooled by the weather—Spring is right around the corner and so is Trophy Rockfish Season on the Chesapeake Bay.  Last Hurrah Charter Fishing LLC still has some prime dates available, but they are going fast.  Keep in mind that there are SEVEN days in the week and Saturday & Sunday are the toughest ones to fish.   It’s very over-crowded out there which spooks fish and makes maneuvering highly difficult.  We strongly recommend booking a weekday if at all possible!

After May 15th, the Rockfish limit doubles and the size minimum drops.  These last two weeks have been phenomenal fishing the last 4 or 5 seasons.  We are booking April to July right now so don’t procrastinate.  Email us today and get your trip on the books!  We run 2 trips a day, seven days a week.  5:30 a.m. / 12:30 p.m.

2019 Spring Trophy Rockfish Season

Spring Trophy Rockfish Season on the Chesapeake Bay is right around the corner.  Trophy Season starts:  Saturday, April 20th and goes to May 15th.  During this period, all striped bass (rockfish) must be 35 inches or longer and each customer is allowed to keep one.  From May 16th to December 15th, the size requirement is 19 inches and each customer is allowed two fish and the  crew can keep one.

We run two trips a day, seven days a week.  Mornings depart at 5:30 a.m. and afternoons at 12:30.  Weekdays are always easier because the crowds are smaller.  We can take a max of 6 customers.  Less folks is fine, but pricing is flat for the boat and we do not mix groups—-one group hires the boat for their private charter.

We currently have Opening Day open, as well as April 23, 24, 25, 28 and 29.  Email for May and June trip availability.

Fall Fishing

Fall is here and we are booking up dates from now until the season ends on December 15th.  Fishing has been a little tricky lately, but we’ve been boxing Rockfish limits regardless with fish up to 34″.     It’s only gonna’ get  better.  Here are some pics from the last week…

The Fish are Already Wet

Last Hurrah is currently booking up the month of October.  We also still have a few September dates available.
The weather has been wet to say the least, but we don’t worry about the rain…the fish are already wet!  In fact, a little rain can reduce the boat traffic and therefore improve fishing.  (Fish don’t mind rain, but they won’t tolerate hundreds of loud boats running through them.)  There have been some weather-related challenges though, namely Conowingo Dam.  The damn Dam’s open flood-gates cause very strong currents and can push logs into the trolling grounds.  Regardless, we persevere and overcome….86 Rockfish limits out of the last 88 trips!  Lately, when the tide gets right, the fishing can be outstanding.  We hooked over 20 fish at once yesterday!!
So grab your rain jacket, and let’s go fishing!!

Summer Fishing on the Chesapeake at its Best

We’re currently fishing out of Annapolis and the bite is right! We are catching limits of nice Rockfish every trip and the action is usually very fast. On most trips, we are utilizing light, spinning rods to do the work. The biggest challenge is the crowds because most Chesapeake boat owners don’t seem to understand that motor-noise spooks fish! We recommend booking a weekday if at all possible. Here are some pics from the last week…

June and July Booking Now!

Fishing is excellent right now and we have prime June and July dates still available.  We can take up to 6 customers and we run two trips a day, seven days a week.  Open morning June trips:  5, 7, 11, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29.
(Weekdays are always better fishing as crowds do their best to ruin fishing on the weekends.)  Here are some pics from the last few days….
