Booking the Rest of May Dates

The Maryland 2019 Fishing Season is off and running!  The Trophy Rockfish run has been tough during the first few days, but the bite is showing signs of improvement and  things can change substantially within a few hours on the Bay.   The legal limit for Trophy Season is:  One  Rockfish (striped bass) per angler, per day at 35-inches or longer.  Starting May 16th, the limit doubles to two fish per angler, one extra for the crew and they only need to be 19-inches and longer.  These resident fish school up and the action has been excellent during the  last 2 weeks of May in recent years.

We run 2 trips a day, seven days a week.  5:30 a.m. departure and 12:30 or 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon.  We can take a max of 6 customers.

Let’s go catchin’!

Open May Morning Trips:  1, 2, 15, 19, 21, 24, 27, 29, 30

2019 Spring Trophy Rockfish Season

Spring Trophy Rockfish Season on the Chesapeake Bay is right around the corner.  Trophy Season starts:  Saturday, April 20th and goes to May 15th.  During this period, all striped bass (rockfish) must be 35 inches or longer and each customer is allowed to keep one.  From May 16th to December 15th, the size requirement is 19 inches and each customer is allowed two fish and the  crew can keep one.

We run two trips a day, seven days a week.  Mornings depart at 5:30 a.m. and afternoons at 12:30.  Weekdays are always easier because the crowds are smaller.  We can take a max of 6 customers.  Less folks is fine, but pricing is flat for the boat and we do not mix groups—-one group hires the boat for their private charter.

We currently have Opening Day open, as well as April 23, 24, 25, 28 and 29.  Email for May and June trip availability.

Summer Light Tackle Fishing Out of Annapolis

The fish moved, so we did too!  The Last Hurrah is currently (and temporarily)  docked at:
7364 Edgewood Rd. Annapolis, MD 21403.   Slip # 2.

We are now chumming with light-tackle spinning rods.  The Rockfishing has been stellar with fast limits of fish up to 34 inches every trip.  We still have some June dates left to fill.  Remember, weekdays are far better due to smaller crowds.

June and July Booking Now!

Fishing is excellent right now and we have prime June and July dates still available.  We can take up to 6 customers and we run two trips a day, seven days a week.  Open morning June trips:  5, 7, 11, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29.

Time to Book Your Chesapeake Fishing Trip

The 2018 trophy striped bass season is well under well.  Unusually cold water temps delayed the spawning process making for a slow start, but things are starting to improve.  We are currently filling a few holes in the May schedule and booking the month of June.  On May 16th, the legal limit on stripers (a.k.a. Rockfish) doubles and the size limit drops to 20″.  There are already some beautiful resident Rockfish around and we are looking forward to an awesome late-May / early-June bite!  Shoot us an email or call today to book your trip.

There are 6 other days in the week.

The 2018 Maryland Spring Trophy Rockfish Season is right around the corner and dates are filling up quickly.  April 21st is opening day and the weather and water temperature  are much more favorable than last year at this time.  We are optimistic regarding the migration and are looking forward to a great trophy season.

Just a reminder that we run two trips a day, seven days a week.   Everyone wants “Saturdays”, but remember that there are six other, better days in the week to go fishing.  Saturdays get extremely crowded on the Chesapeake and boats spook fish!   I have some prime weekday mornings open such as:  April 26th, May 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th and 10th.   If you must have a weekend date, Mothers Day–Sunday, May 13th, is wide open and I have some w/e afternoon trips available.  (Saturday, May 26th, is my first open Saturday morning.)  Email or call for other available dates.  We can take up to 6 customers.  All licenses, rods, reels, gear and fish-cleaning are provided.

Springtime is the short window to catch a monster Rock.  Book your Spring Trophy Rockfish trip on The Last Hurrah today!

Fall Fishing on the Chesapeake Bay

We are into October already and there are only 3 months left in the 2017 Maryland fishing season.  Fishing is still solid to excellent depending on the day.  We did end our 82 consecutive Striped Bass Limit streak the other day when some unfavorable tides and conditions from the Harvest Moon sent us home 2 fish short of a limit.
110 striper limits out of 113 trips since May is nothing to complain about though!  We are currently catching a nice grade of fish and the bite is back on track .  Fishing should only improve from here on out as water temperatures cool.  Weekdays are always better fishing than weekends due to ignorant crowds.
Shoot us an email today to book your Fall Rockfishing trip on the Chesapeake Bay.

103 Rockfish Limits on the Last 105 Charter Trips

Last Hurrah Charter Fishing LLC is still boxing Rockfish limits—-We’re now up to 103 for 105 trips this summer with the last 76 consecutive!  Some days are tough with a lot of undersized throwbacks but ignorant crowds are always the worst challenge.  Weekdays are always better fishing than weekends. Our calendar is starting to open up from now until the season-close on December 20th.  Drop us a line to book your Fall Rockfishing charter on the Chesapeake Bay.

Fast Action and Full Fish Boxes

The light-tackle Rockfish action is still as fast and furious as it gets with fish coming over the side non-stop.  We will continue to live-line until the bait-sized Spot fish leave us….which should be soon.  Last Hurrah Charters has caught its Rockfish limit on 91 of its last 93 charters!

Bottom-fishing for White Perch, Whiting and Jumbo Spot is also excellent right now.  We have open weekdays the next two weeks and a few holes here and there on weekends.  (Weekdays are always easier fishing due to less crowds).   Here are some pics from the last week…
