Chesapeake Bay Fishing Reports featuring fishing reports of the striped bass fishing trips on the Chesapeake Bay from Annapolis Maryland

Things are Heating Up

Fishing is excellent right now with fast action, full coolers and limits of Big Rockfish!  Last Hurrah Charters still has some prime June dates available.  Gather a few friends, family members or work colleagues and come fishing with us!

Here are a few shots from the last few days…

Bite is Right

Fishing is good and so is the weather.  There are still a few big, migratory fish around and the resident Rock are in the main stem of the Bay.  The hateful slot-limit is over and anglers can now keep 2 Rockfish a day over 20-inches, with only one of those being over 28 inches.  Here are some pics from the last few trips.

2015 Trophy Season First Week

The 2015 Trophy Striped Bass Season is off and running.  The first week was pretty tough due to much colder than usual water temps but we are still catching nice fish and limiting out on some trips.
The fishing is going to become red hot once the water warms up and a large influx of fish swim into the main stem of the Bay.  We still have some dates that aren’t booked so contact us a.s.a.p. to book.

2014 Season Wrap-Up

2014 was a great season.  Last Hurrah Charters ran over 100 trips, caught fish on every one and limited out on Rockfish  82% of the time.  We would like to thank each and every one of our customers for fishing with us.  Your loyalty is greatly appreciated and we enjoyed fishing with you.  We are already gearing up for the 2015 season and we look forward to having all of you back on the water and on the fish!

The Trophy Rockfish dates are starting to book.  I like to take care of my regulars, so if you want a specific date, please let me know so I can get you on the calendar.

Thanks Again and Happy New Year!

Capt. Scott

14 Days Left in the Season and We’re Still Boxin’ Limits

Water temps are down to approx. 44 degrees and the fishing has become rather technical.  We are still filling coolers though and have limited-out on Rockfish 9 of the last 10 trips.  The fish are fat, healthy and hard-fighting.  Most days we are hooking 6-12 fish at once when we troll through a school.  The action is fast, exciting and fun for all ages.

It is beautiful out on the water this time of year and the good fishing is a bonus.  There are only 14-days left in the Maryland 2014 Season.  Come on out with us for one Last Hurrah!

Less than a month left and the bite is on!

Air and water temperatures have dropped, Fall Turnover has occurred and the fish are snapping!  The past week had everyone tense with anticipation as periods of quiet trolling were interrupted by total chaos.  Throughout the weekend, the fish took their time getting happy but once they turned on and started biting, excitement and big catches ensued.  Hooking six to fourteen fish simultaneously has become commonplace lately.  It’s a blast watching all of my customers in the back of the boat cranking in  two fish on every rig.  This is my favorite time of the  year, and there’s not much season left.  The boat cabin is enclosed and heated so don’t be a sissy about the weather 😉  Call or email today to book one “Last Hurrah” for 2014!

Fishing is as good as it gets right now!

The water temps have cooled, the fall turnover is in effect, and the fish are schooled up and feeding!   Fishing has been phenomenal lately with fat, “football” fish in the 20-30 inch range.   It’s not uncommon to hook 7 to 12 at a once and fight two fish on each rig.

November is filling up fast but there are a handful of dates still up for grabs.

Fall Fishing

With less than a month and a half of season left, we were all frustrated with this weekend’s weather.  North winds 25-40 kts. made fishing impossible all weekend and we lost two days that we cannot get back.   Before the front came through, catching was superb in a few different locations.  The grade of fish ranges from 17-inch throwbacks to 30+plus inch beauties.   Breaking fish and diving birds are common lately.  I caught several keepers the other day jigging light-tackle spinning gear.

Time is running out but Last Hurrah Charters still has a few prime dates left to fill.  The boat cabin is heated and fishing action is hot.  Call or email today to book your Fall adventure on the Chesapeake.

Only 60 Days Left in the MD Striper Season…it’s the Last Hurrah!

Time is running out, and stripers are running thick in our part of the Chesapeake Bay.  Stripers, a.k.a. “Rockfish,” are schooled up thick now and often attacking baitfish near the surface.  Nothing is more exciting than approaching acres of breaking fish with seagulls diving into them and having every rod hook-up with a nice fish!  Last Hurrah Charters still has a few days left in Oct. and Nov. and several days to fill in December.  The boat is heated, so don’t be a wuss!  Contact us today to book your Fall Striper trip!
