Weekly Report: 9/20-9/26

The Rock-Fishing was a bit hit-or-miss this week.  The Spot are still available for live-lining and there still a few Spanish Mackerel hanging around.  The Bluefish continue to be caught in strong numbers.  There were occasional pods of breaking fish creating jigging opportunities.   No doubt the bite will get right again very soon!

Good catches of Spot, Rockfish, Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish!  On Tuesday, I fished with a friend and his son.  The friend happens to also be a professional mate so that helped our success.  We caught about 60 live Spot in no time.  Before we could reach our targeted fishing grounds, we located diving birds and […]

This was an interesting week as The Last Hurrah saw some surprising species!  On Wednesday evening, the guys from BGC hooked two monster Red Drum almost simultaneously.  The fish ripped line off the reels and within a few seconds, they were down to the knots on the reels!  I quickly fired-up the engine and began the chase.  The first redfish, broke […]

Nice mix of keeper Rockfish, Bluefish, and Spanish Mackerel this week!   My friend, Capt. Karl, fished with me on Tuesday and we found some breaking Rockfish with some monster-sized Macs hanging with them.  Live-lining continued to be good with trolling getting a nice variety of species.

Weekly Report: 8/23-8/29

Fishing was good to excellent all week until Saturday when the tide refused to move and the fish shut down temporarily.  The bait-fishing was wide-open and live-lining Spot for Rockfish provided limits each trip.  There are lots of Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish around as well and trolling produced a mixed bag.   All in all, a solid week […]

Weekly Report: 8/16-8/22

Another week full of  “Chesapeake Slams”.  (Rockfish, bluefish and spanish mackerel in the same day.)   There were a few slow days mixed in, but for the most part all of the species cooperated nicely this week.   Some breaking fish provided light-tackle jigging opportunities as well.  Good numbers of mackerel were boated by the fleet.  If you like catching multiple […]

Weekly Report: 8/9-8/15

The fishing was good just about all week with some days being excellent!  Most of the rockfish were caught on light-tackle using live Spot as bait.  Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel were trolled up after limits of rockfish were boxed.  Now’s a great time for catching muti-species.

Weekly Report: 8/2-8/8

This week started out great for rockfishing with the cold front making things a bit more challenging by Friday.  I caught some nice Spanish Mackeral over the weekend.  As always, they were a blast to catch.  Now is a great time to catch rockfish, bluefish and spanish mackerel all during the same trip!  Bottom fish such as croaker, white perch and spot are […]
