Maryland Rockfish Season

The 2023 Maryland resident Rockfish (striped bass) season is underway!  The legal limit is now two fish per charterboat customer between 19 and 31 inches.  Fishing has been a blast lately with multiple, simultaneous hookups occuring when the fish decide to bite.  With its new motor, transmission, propellor, trolling valve and spray rails, the Last Hurrah has never run or fished better!  We have a few holes in the May schedule, and several prime-time June dates.  We run seven days a week.  (Weekdays are superior fishing due to large, weekend crowds.)  Mornings run 5:30-11:30 and afternoons 12:00-6:00.  We can take groups up to six for private charter.  Customers are more than welcome to bring their dogs along as well!

The Last Hurrah Has Open Trips This Weekend and Throughout October

Summer is over and it’s now time for “Rocktober”!   It’s been an awesome year so far and the best is yet to come.  The Spanish Mackerel bite in September was nothing short of epic!  There are still Macks and Bluefish around and Rockfish of all sizes.  Contact us ASAP to book!

Rocks in da’ Box

Fishing has been action-packed with lots of throwbacks caught and released in order to box keeper-limits.   We are averaging 30 to 75 bites a trip!  The limit is now 2 rockfish per angler at 19 inches and up.  We have some prime-time June weekdays available .

May 16th— Regular Rockfish Season Commences!

Okay, so the 2019 Trophy Rockfish Season was a challenging one to say the least, but that’s almost behind us.   Starting Thursday, we can catch the resident Rock, the creel limit doubles, and they only have to be 19-inches.
Pack your bags, ’cause we’re going to “SMASHTOWN”!   There are already a ton of nice, resident Rockfish around and we have been catching several each trip for the last week.  The regular season should be a great one with fast action, full coolers and happy anglers.

Last Hurrah Charters is currently booking up its last few May dates as well as June.

Contact us a.s.a.p. to book your trip.

Summer Stripers

Fishing continues to be good to excellent when ridiculously huge crowds aren’t scaring the fish to oblivion.  Weekends are a complete circus with ignorant boaters running through and even trolling through chum-slicks and chunk-lines.  Common sense and common courtesy do not exist out there, so we strongly recommend booking weekdays if at all possible.  Despite the challenges, Last Hurrah Charters has caught over 50 consecutive Rockfish limits and hopes to keep the streak alive.  Some days, the white perch fishing is very good. Other days. they are tough to find.  A few  Bluefish and Mackerel  have been spotted down the Bay, but they haven’t  arrived in numbers yet.  We currently have July 20, 22, 23, and 31 open for charter.  We also have several prime August dates available.  Here are some pics from the last few days….

Jumbos in July

Haven’t posted in a while…too busy fishing!  19 charters over the last 12 days to be exact.  Fishing is insane right now with fast limits of big fish up to 34 inches being common.  We have a few, prime dates left in July.  Shoot us an email and book while the bite is hot!

Open June Dates for Light Tackle Fishing Out of Annapolis

We are currently fishing out of Annapolis and smashing fish with light-tackle spinning rods.  We have:   June 18, 19-p.m., 20, 21, 22-p.m., 26, and 29 available for charter!  We offer full and half-day trips.   Book now while the action is phenomenal!

Let’s go catching!

Light Tackle Rockfishing Continues to be Excellent

Fishing remains stellar in the mid Chesapeake Bay and the Rockfish limits are coming fast every day.  Last Hurrah Charter Fishing has now limited-out on 84 of its last 86 charters.  Bottom fishing is good to great most days with a mix of jumbo and small Spot and big White Perch.   We are only seeing a few Bluefish, most of which are smaller than average.  Spanish Mackerel are slowly assembling in our part of the Bay.  We’ve caught a handful of Macs on some trips, but they’re not quite a consistent target just yet.

We have some openings next week and in September.  The live bait won’t be around long, so don’t procrastinate on booking your light-tackle, live-lining trip on the Chesapeake Bay!  Here are a few pics from the last week
