2020 Rockfish Season

The 2020 Maryland Striped Bass Season is right around the corner.  The official season dates have not released yet but a later start is looking likely.  May 1st is the probable start date right now.
As usual, we will be offering two trips a day/seven days a week.  Drop us a line to check date availability.

OPEN DATES WEEK OF THANKSGIVING

The Maryland Fishing Season runs until December 15th and the bite is ON!   There’s some great fishing to be had and the boat is fully enclosed and heated.  Now is one of the best times to enjoy the Chesapeake Bay.  We have trips open all of Thanksgiving Week.  Take some relatives out on the Bay for a Striped Bass fishing trip they will always remember!

Fishing is Phenomenal—We are Open this Week & Weekend

Fishing is RED HOT right now and we have plenty of open dates starting this week and this weekend!  Hooking 5 to 10 fish at once is common lately!  It’s beautiful on the Bay and the boat is enclosed and heated.  Best time of the year to go fishing!  Season runs until December 15th.

Let’s Go Catchin’!!!!

Fall Fishing on The Chesapeake

We are well into October and it’s time to book up the dates from now until the season closes on December 15th.   Yesterday, we targeted Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish and caught 30 Blues and 20 Macs!  The Macs are definitely on the way out of the Bay, but the Blues should be around for a bit longer.  There are a lot of undersized Rockfish schooling up, but the Fall pattern with plentiful, fat “football” fish should bust loose soon.  There are still plenty of Spot fish around for live-bait fishing.  (Just my mate and I caught 225 the other day in 1 hour.)  For those of you that are soft:  NO, it’s not “too cold” out there in November and December!   The boat is fully enclosed and heated and it doesn’t even get that cold anymore around here.  The last few months are prime-time and can provide some of the best fishing of the year.  Get your Fall trip on the Chesapeake booked now!

Available Dates Starting this Weekend!

The weather is cooling down but the fishing is still hot.  With schools back in session and vacations spent, bookings have slowed.   Last Hurrah Charters has prime dates open for charter as soon as this weekend.  We’ll fish everyday possible until the season ends on December 15th, so take advantage of the great fishing and smaller crowds on the Bay right now!  We run morning and afternoon trips for groups up to six.   Hurry while there are still Spanish Mackerel around to chase!

Book Your Light-Tackle, Live-Lining Trip Before the Bait Leaves!!

Fishing remains excellent with the afternoon bite being better than the mornings lately.  The live bait will likely be exited the Bay within the next few weeks, so don’t procrastinate on booking your live-lining trip.  Catching Rockfish limits on light, spinning rods is a blast!  Weekdays are always better because the crowds are smaller.  We are still fishing out of our Annapolis marina slip, but we will be moving back down to Tracy’s Landing (Deale) soon.  Book your trip today!

One Last Hurrah for Summer Fishing

The Last Hurrah is still docked in Annapolis and will continue fishing out of there until something changes with the fish.  Currently, fishing is excellent close to our Naptown marina and we are enjoying light-tackle limits of Striped Bass (Rockfish) and loads of Perch and Spot.  Some days, Spanish Mackerel are also available.  We have some open dates for the second half of August, so book your trip now and have one “last hurrah”  this summer.

Open August Dates:  14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31.

Few August Days Available & Live-Lining is HOT!

Light tackle fishing with live bait is insane right now, but it won’t last forever.  Get out with us before the end of August and take advantage.  Hundreds of Perch and Spot each trip has been common also.  Some days even provide a few Spanish Mackerel.   We have a handful of prime August dates available for charter…contact us a.s.a.p. to book!

Fish Boxes are Filling Up & So Is the August Calendar

Fishing continues to be excellent with the afternoon bite being better lately.  Too many  people / boats on the Bay  is usually our biggest challenge.  Book a weekday and plan on leaving early.  We run two trips a day, seven days a week.   Here are some light-tackle limits from the past week…

Summer Rockfish Bite is On!

Trolling for Rockfish (striped bass) is good right now.  We’ve caught limits on almost every trip since 5/16.  Volatile weather has given the fish lockjaw a few times but when they do bite, it is game-on!  It’s not uncommon to hook 8 or 10 at once.  Weekends are the worst as huge, ignorant crowds make the fishing much tougher. We have prime June and July weekdays available.  Email or call us today to book your summertime fishing trip on the Chesapeake Bay!
