2019 Spring Trophy Rockfish Season

Spring Trophy Rockfish Season on the Chesapeake Bay is right around the corner.  Trophy Season starts:  Saturday, April 20th and goes to May 15th.  During this period, all striped bass (rockfish) must be 35 inches or longer and each customer is allowed to keep one.  From May 16th to December 15th, the size requirement is 19 inches and each customer is allowed two fish and the  crew can keep one.

We run two trips a day, seven days a week.  Mornings depart at 5:30 a.m. and afternoons at 12:30.  Weekdays are always easier because the crowds are smaller.  We can take a max of 6 customers.  Less folks is fine, but pricing is flat for the boat and we do not mix groups—-one group hires the boat for their private charter.

We currently have Opening Day open, as well as April 23, 24, 25, 28 and 29.  Email for May and June trip availability.

The Fish are Already Wet

Last Hurrah is currently booking up the month of October.  We also still have a few September dates available.
The weather has been wet to say the least, but we don’t worry about the rain…the fish are already wet!  In fact, a little rain can reduce the boat traffic and therefore improve fishing.  (Fish don’t mind rain, but they won’t tolerate hundreds of loud boats running through them.)  There have been some weather-related challenges though, namely Conowingo Dam.  The damn Dam’s open flood-gates cause very strong currents and can push logs into the trolling grounds.  Regardless, we persevere and overcome….86 Rockfish limits out of the last 88 trips!  Lately, when the tide gets right, the fishing can be outstanding.  We hooked over 20 fish at once yesterday!!
So grab your rain jacket, and let’s go fishing!!

Book Your Fall Chesapeake Bay Fishing Trip Today!

Last Hurrah Charter Fishing had a stellar summer season, boxing Rockfish limits on:  95 out of 97 trips!  We are currently on a 68 consecutive trip limit-streak and we hope to keep this streak alive.  The water temperature dropped 7 degrees in just a few days once the remnants of Harvey reached us.  Multiple weather fronts and barometer changes made the bite difficult on a few trips, but we were still able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat on those days.  Overall, the Rockfish bite has remained fantastic with the biggest problem being getting the baits in front of keeper-sized fish before smaller ones gobble them.   Conditions are shaping up for an excellent Fall fishing pattern and the calendar is booking up quickly, so contact us today and reserve your charter.
