Summer Rockfish Bite is On!

Trolling for Rockfish (striped bass) is good right now.  We’ve caught limits on almost every trip since 5/16.  Volatile weather has given the fish lockjaw a few times but when they do bite, it is game-on!  It’s not uncommon to hook 8 or 10 at once.  Weekends are the worst as huge, ignorant crowds make the fishing much tougher. We have prime June and July weekdays available.  Email or call us today to book your summertime fishing trip on the Chesapeake Bay!

Here are some pics from this past week:

Summertime Fishing on the Chesapeake

Last Hurrah Charters has prime June weekdays available.  (Forget about weekends—crowds ruin fishing.)    We offer two trips a day:  5:30 a.m. and noon/1:00 p.m. We are still running out of Tracy’s Landing/Deale but we will move the boat to Annapolis if necessary.

Rocks in da’ Box

Fishing has been action-packed with lots of throwbacks caught and released in order to box keeper-limits.   We are averaging 30 to 75 bites a trip!  The limit is now 2 rockfish per angler at 19 inches and up.  We have some prime-time June weekdays available .

May 16th— Regular Rockfish Season Commences!

Okay, so the 2019 Trophy Rockfish Season was a challenging one to say the least, but that’s almost behind us.   Starting Thursday, we can catch the resident Rock, the creel limit doubles, and they only have to be 19-inches.
Pack your bags, ’cause we’re going to “SMASHTOWN”!   There are already a ton of nice, resident Rockfish around and we have been catching several each trip for the last week.  The regular season should be a great one with fast action, full coolers and happy anglers.

Last Hurrah Charters is currently booking up its last few May dates as well as June.

Booking the Rest of May Dates

The Maryland 2019 Fishing Season is off and running!  The Trophy Rockfish run has been tough during the first few days, but the bite is showing signs of improvement and  things can change substantially within a few hours on the Bay.   The legal limit for Trophy Season is:  One  Rockfish (striped bass) per angler, per day at 35-inches or longer.  Starting May 16th, the limit doubles to two fish per angler, one extra for the crew and they only need to be 19-inches and longer.  These resident fish school up and the action has been excellent during the  last 2 weeks of May in recent years.

We run 2 trips a day, seven days a week.  5:30 a.m. departure and 12:30 or 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon.  We can take a max of 6 customers.

Booking the Rest of Our Summer Dates—63 & 2 Limit-Out Record So Far!

Last Hurrah Charter Fishing LLC has now caught 63 Rockfish Limits on its last 65 charters!  Some trips, we haven’t been able to keep a lure in the water, other trips required a herculean effort and every trick in the book. Regardless, the fish box has been full almost every day since mid May.

White Perch fishing is also off of the chain now and Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel are on the way.  The boat is currently running out of Annapolis and may /may not stay there for August  depending on what the fish do.

We still have some prime August dates available.  Email, text, or call today to reserve your August trip on the Chesapeake and get in on the fishing fun!

Weekly Report: Opening Week 2010

We started off the season with Adam Funk and a great group of guys.  The seas were a little sloppy but the bite was hot.  Despite the bumpy weather, we  caught early limits during opening weekend.  The Hurrah fished every day the rest of the week and the fishing was good for the most part with some days being better than others.  I’ve attached a few photos from the week.
