Rockfishing continues to be good to excellent and the Bluefish are thick! Some Spanish Mackerel have shown up too making now a great time for a mixed bag! On the bottom-fishing front, Spot, large White Perch and Croakers are being caught in big numbers. There are even some puppy Drum around. Contact me NOW for September dates—they are going fast!
Well, fishing was excellent for several weeks and we put Rockfish-limits in the box on 19 consecutive trips!! However, it totally fell apart on Thursday morning and the last few days have been about as tough as it gets. It’s important to remember that fish are wild animals and everything in their habitat affects them: water temperature, barometric pressure, salinity, oxegyen levels, water-clarity, tides, moon-phases, bait availability, etc. etc. You can’t whack and stack ’em every time and Mother Nature will serve up “Humble Pie” one in a while.

Live-Lining for Striped Bass (a.k.a. “Rockfish”) continues to be excellent. The Last Hurrah has boxed limits on the last 17 consecutive trips! On Friday, we hooked 12 and boxed 11 keepers in under 15 minutes. There are some nice Bluefish around as well. On Thursday, we caught 28 Blues up to 5 pounds. The Spanish Mackerel haven’t really shown up in numbers yet but there have been a couple spotted. Here are some pics from the week….
Light-tackle fishing for Rockfish continues to be excellent. We have boxed Rockfish limits on the last 14-trips in a row! We are also catching large Bluefish. The Spanish Mackerel should show up soon. I still have dates in August but they are filling up fast. Don’t delay, lock your trip in today!
Live-lining for Striped Bass (a.k.a. “Rockfish”) continues to be excellent!!! We have boxed full limits of Rockfish on 13 of the last 13 trips….usually in short-order! The bite can be fast and furious and we have been wailing and bailing fish up to 27-inches on light gear. We are also catching some jumbo White Perch and some quality Bluefish. Live-lining for Rockfish continues to be good to phenomenal depending on the day and The Last Hurrah has boxed limits on the last 12 trips in a row! Sunday was a little tricky after two days of weather, but we managed to catch our limit with 13 keeper rock, a few nice bluefish and some nice black-back white perch. Now, is great time to catch feisty rockfish on light, spinning tackle.

Fishing just doesn’t get any better! On Saturday and Sunday, we caught our Rockfish limits in 30-40 minutes, about 600 bottom-fish including some Jumbo White Perch, some juvenile Flounder and Croaker, and a dozen nice-sized Bluefish. Live-bait fishing for Rockfish is excellent right now! We are catching lots of Spot and then using them to catch limits of Rockfish on light tackle. Fishing is straight-up insane right now! All the Spot you want for bait and Rockfish limits as fast as you can crank ’em in to the boat!!! There is no better time to take a light-tackle live-lining trip.
